ADOBE/QUICKSILVER COMP -

Clothing design and graphics have always been in our blood so when Adobe and Quicksilver got together to promote the new CS6 we could not resist entering their “design our line” t-shirt design competition.

Our design aims at melting the birth of the Quicksilver logo together with the current interpretation of it. Our design is called  SPIRIT OF ‘69 (by Maria C.) Please click on this link and navigate the Facebook App to our entry and vote for us? - thank you :)

SEE YOU IN BRAZIL! -

Loved the highs and hated the lows, either way the Olympics truly are a spectacle of humanity and a strong source of inspiration for design even if heavily guarded by the branding police.

Wouldn’t you love to see it in Brazil?

KIng The Shire

Lets not talk about that show … you know, The Shire, lets instead say that Foursquare, Groupon, and Craigslist all point to a fact that cannot be ignored!

Local Niche Marketing has exploded!

And, if local marketing is exploding, then your local content must be better, deeply authentic, and more compelling than ever before!

No story of success is a better example of this than GROUPON! Andrew Mason’s first venture into business didn’t make the mark, but when he turned The Point into GROUPON highlighting local deals, local happenings, and local events with money-savings coupons attached, the local business model exploded and GROUPON blew into entrepreneurial heaven!

This is the time to utilize local press releases that recognized local products, new local services, and local business news. Highlight a new employee, stress how a local service can benefit local economies, and emphasize locally developed products that are changing the face of the local economic landscape!

Construct an interactive local blog in order to develop Question & Answer sessions with your local client base. Customers will come to their local expert or vendor before they go out of their local boundaries, if they know you can supply them with great service, and immediate response.

Being local can become your competitive edge!

This is the time to freshen local web content in order to reach out to customers with exciting call-to-action offers that can only be created locally!

  • Let your local restaurant’s customer base know about that 10% discount on that Lunch of the Day!
  • Help customers learn about that Buy One-Get One Free Offer at your local retail outlet.
  • Invite clients to take advantage of a one-time complementary web content audit- so they can bring original and innovative ideas to their local marketplace.

To the cynical this just sounds like good old advice but the difference is that now we have the new age power of worldwide social media to leverage our local efforts.

Local Content is KING!

Custom QR codes for you!

We have had great feed back on last week’s business cards QR codes article so we decided to follow up with the next evolution of QR codes - Custom design QR codes.

Generally speaking at consumer level, the practice of scanning a QR code to get more information is still very new, yet every business must make sure that any marketing efforts  result in enticing the prospect to follow up with an action - send an SMS, call a number, enter a shop, visit a website … etc etc. The challenge with QR codes is that they can look quite similar and in a world filled with endless amount of marketing, boring is not an option!

Lucky for us designers the options of making QR codes functional yet visually exciting are plenty. We have attached just a few designs for you to get the idea that your QR code can look great and work hard at inviting prospects into action. Isn’t this the most important part of any marketing?

Please be sure to contact us if you need to know more or have great insights to share. Check out Our Facebook page (for promos and likes)

In summary;

• QR codes are a great way to quickly share information & lead prospects to your website.

• QR codes can be every bit as individual as your business.

• To save time & money, plan ahead and involve a professional.

Business cards QR codes for you!

QR codes on business cards are becoming very common, the problem is people are thinking too complex, and not taking in the fact Vcards can not be downloaded on Apple smart phones.

This does not mean QR codes on business cards are bad, it just means you need to think simple and smart, so lets get some facts strait and get the do’s and dont’s on mecards and vcards.

Rules

  1. Do NOT use Vcards!  They do not download to iphones
  2. Use Mecards instead of Vcards, most QR generators have this option.  Mecards work much like Vcards, but can be downloaded to all devices.
  3. Think simple stupid.  Too much content makes the QR code too dense, keep it to a max 3-4 lines of content, name, number, email, and web address. No one really needs an address, mothers maiden name, favorite food etc…  saved under your contact.  Make a landing page if this is what you are wanting.
  4. Size does matter.  Mecards still get dense like Vcards, which means the QR code has to be larger to scan properly.  This is why having less data in the code is essential.  Never make a QR code smaller then 2.5x2.5cm as some scanners will not scan QR codes any smaller.
  5. Custom designing QR codes is what Product Design Studio does best, but designing data QR codes like Vcards and Mecards is extra challenging with more data in the code.  More data + destiny = poor design ability.
