SWEET LIGHT -

German design studio Voxel has created a sweet pendant lamp—pun intended—that is made of sugar.

Named ‘Suesslicht’, the cone-shaped lamp shade is made by compressing a sugar crystal and water mixture at high pressure, a process that produces an ultra-thin structure that allows light to shine through.

The snow-coloured shade is mounted on an industrial-looking butterfly nut, which holds the LED light bulb together with a colourful textile cable that connects it to the ceiling. When light passes through the fine sugar crystals, it takes on a pretty shimmery quality - hope this inspires you.

MAP DESIGN -

These days when we think map we go straight to Google or Apple (lets not start that conversation) For obvious reasons the design is typically all about functionality and simplicity but what happens when a clever artist decides to paint right onto old style printed maps?

This incredible art is so unique and so contrarian to what is dished up by the technology giants that Ed Fairburn may have found a viable way to keep those old printed maps away from the bin and onto your walls.
