Custom QR codes for you!

We have had great feed back on last week’s business cards QR codes article so we decided to follow up with the next evolution of QR codes - Custom design QR codes.

Generally speaking at consumer level, the practice of scanning a QR code to get more information is still very new, yet every business must make sure that any marketing efforts result in enticing the prospect to follow up with an action - send an SMS, call a number, enter a shop, visit a website … etc etc. The challenge with QR codes is that they can look quite similar and in a world filled with endless amount of marketing, boring is not an option!

Business cards QR codes for you!

QR codes on business cards are becoming very common, the problem is people are thinking too complex, and not taking in the fact Vcards can not be downloaded on Apple smart phones.

This does not mean QR codes on business cards are bad, it just means you need to think simple and smart, so lets get some facts strait and get the do’s and dont’s on mecards and vcards.

Rules

Do NOT use Vcards! They do not download to iphones
Use Mecards instead of Vcards, most QR generators have this option. Mecards work much like Vcards, but can be downloaded to all devices.
Think simple stupid. Too much content makes the QR code too dense, keep it to a max 3-4 lines of content, name, number, email, and web address. No one really needs an address, mothers maiden name, favorite food etc… saved under your contact. Make a landing page if this is what you are wanting.
Size does matter. Mecards still get dense like Vcards, which means the QR code has to be larger to scan properly. This is why having less data in the code is essential. Never make a QR code smaller then 2.5x2.5cm as some scanners will not scan QR codes any smaller.
Custom designing QR codes is what Product Design Studio does best, but designing data QR codes like Vcards and Mecards is extra challenging with more data in the code. More data + destiny = poor design ability.

WANT TO CHOOSE A SUCCESSFUL COLOUR?

According to a new survey 57% of 1,500 businesses, entrepreneurs and designers associated the colour blue with success.

That’s followed by green at 35%, then white at 32%, then black at 29% and red at 21%. When chosen by males, purple was the colour least associated with success, while females were least likely to choose orange.

A Giant Post-it Note Desk.

For those who constantly forget to wear their Post-it watches, and like to take down notes on their desks, Milan-based design firm SoupStudio created an almost-ideal workstation for designers that always give you access to reminders and free doodling space.

Called ‘Post-Itable’, the desk is a stack of giant Post-its so that users can doodle away or take notes without the hassle of looking for a clean piece of paper.

Like how Post-it Notes work, once finished with a layer, users can just rip off the giant Post-it t and have a clean workstation.

When finished with the stack, a new block of Post-its can be replace for a ‘new table’—maybe even of a different color.

Post-Itable was created a few years back as part of a competition.

Lisbon-based designer Miguel Mestre has also created a similar table that draws on the idea—beyond the boundaries of notebook pages and post-its.

His desk is a stack of 100x70cm blank paper for designers, and its price is available upon request.
